Description
Start- or expand- your own profitable small business by making architectural forms & accents, 3D signage, props & displays, custom cut upholstery foam, and much more with this wonderful hot wire machine! This is a Hotwire Direct brand
"Architectural Cutter 8500M"
which was custom built for our company in 2005 by The Hotwire Direct Company of Clarkston, Washington. It is a manually operated machine, which means it is not computer controlled; rather, the operator cuts various patterns/templates out on 1/8' cardboard or Masonite board, which are then fitted into a special template slot in the machine. The operator then hand guides a motorized hot wire guide over & around the template, and an attached 8.5' long hotwire replicates the template shape precisely out of EPS Foam (Styrofoam). This foam shape is then coated with a plastic or water based coating to strengthen it and then a final paint or texture coating is applied to finish the piece.
In addition to the 8.5' horizontal wire, this machine also features a
motorized vertical flat wire turntable
, which works very well for creating the bases & caps for columns, vases & urns, ornamental balusters (supports for railings), etc. This machine also includes an Arch Cutter Attachment for making carved, ornamental doorways (like Hogwarts has in the Harry Potter Films).
I could write pages & pages listing all the things we have made with this machine over the years! I included some photos for you in the photo section, but here is a partial list:
If you are in the construction business, this machine makes beautiful fluted and spiral columns of all shapes & sizes (see photos), plus crown molding of every shape & length plus molds for casting cement, concrete, & plaster.
If you are a sign shop, this machine makes detailed 3D Signage for businesses, subdivision monument signs, etc. (see photos)
If you are in the scenic/display/party/live event/haunted attraction business, th
is machine makes all kinds of props, including giant Easter Island Statues, Cannon Barrels, Aztec Pyramids, giant logos, etc. (see photos)
If you are in the upholstery business, this machine slices/cuts upholstery foam rubber cleanly & precisely, so if you are in the car/upholstery business this machine is great for cutting your foam rubber pieces to the perfect size every time
I am very fond of this
machine- a lot of great memories associated with it- but these days we are concentrating more on costuming & scriptwriting, so we have decided to downsize our production shop a bit. It is a nice, big, very sturdy piece of American made equipment- measuring approx. 5" wide by 11' long- and works best if you have a larger shop space to put it in. It has two DC power supplies (one for the horizontal wire and one for the vertical flat wire motorized turntable- and the whole thing runs on a standard 110 power source (just plug it in & start cutting!).
In additional to two original Owner's Manuals- and an instructional VHS tape that came with the machine- it also comes with quite a few attachments to make various things (such as arched doorways), as well as quite a few hardboard patterns/templates we have made over the years to make columns, crown molding, etc. I have tried my best to describe everything about this machine but there are so many accessories that come with it- and so many things it can be used for- that I may have missed something, so don't hesitate to ask any questions.
We paid ,000 for this machine back in 2005 and have more than earned our money back from it over the years, as well as also having a lot of fun with it at the same time. We know you will, too! It is quiet, clean, and very simple to use once you get the hang of it.
Currently, this machine is partially disassembled and in storage (it is easier to transport disassembled) but will reassemble on site in about an hour or so. If you would like to come by our storage bay in Marietta, GA., to see it in person and ask any questions, I'd be happy to meet up with you at your convenience. Also, I've had 15 years of practice with this machine so- if you are located in the Atlanta metro area- I would be happy to help you advise you on how to set it up and I can personally demonstrate how it works if you like.
Thanks for stopping by!
