Description
This is a lot of six small fish shaped figures. They are about 3" long and turned up at both ends, so I am assuming they are knife rests for a buffet get together. The fish are in excellent used condition. I see no chips or cracks and color is bright white and deep blue.I found very little information online for this type of item...but did find a little:
( this was a sold Etsy listing description I found on Pinterest) Arabia Of Finland Ceramic Fish Figurine Designed By Gunvor Olin-Grönqvist - Mid Century Danish Modernist Animal With its exaggerated curves and handpainted details, this ceramic fish is a phenomenal example of Mid Century design. Made of silky ceramic, with a supple blue glazed detailing, every aspect of this piece is hand made, from its abstracted form to the beautifully painted accents. Olin-Gronqvist designed for Arabia throughout the 50's and early 60's, and this fish figurine is a classic example of the Modernist ceramic work he's best known for. An incredibly rare form and design, this fish displays many of our favorite Scandinavian Modern design choices. Marked "Arabia Finland GOG/AK" on the base, this piece was likely created in the late 50's. Measuring 2 5/8" long, this fish is in great vintage condition with no visible wear whatsoever. Perfect for display in the home of any Mid Century fanatic, this Modernist Arabia figurine will stand out in any modern home!
Three of the fish I have are marked GOG/UT and three are marked GOG/AK...
