Considered 'Wearable Art', Mary B Hetz sold her work to art galleries and high-end retailers in the U.S. and Europe. Many pieces were featured in museum exhibits around the country, including the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt in New York. Her work is featured in the book "The New Beadwork" by Kathlyn Moss and Alice Scherer, published by Harry N. Abrams, New York, ©1992, a collection of beadwork artists from around the world. Her Fringed Bird Collar Necklace is featured on the cover.
She often mixed crystalline, silver-lined, frosted and opaque seed bead colors to create depth in the designs. It was then backed with fine leather and finished around the edges. Each piece was lovingly handmade and took many hours to complete.
